Speaking out on issues regarding idols and the K-pop industry he’s currently dwelling in, SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan recently took to Instagram to address the often-overlooked struggles faced by K-pop idols.
His post, though not directly naming anyone, is widely believed to touch on recent controversies surrounding his label’s parent company, HYBE. The statement came at a time when HYBE faced scrutiny after internal documents with alleged disparaging comments about idols were disclosed during a recent audit by South Korea’s National Assembly committee.

“I don’t want to see people hurting each other anymore,” he shared, emphasizing his solidarity with fellow artists who tirelessly dedicate themselves to their fans despite significant challenges. His words resonated deeply with fans and industry insiders alike, sparking a conversation around the often-overlooked mental and emotional strain idols endure.

He continued, urging fans and industry figures alike not to treat idols as commodities: “You don’t have the right to easily intrude on our narrative… we are not your items.”
Seungkwan expressed gratitude for the encouraging messages he has exchanged with other idols, describing these interactions as a source of strength.
Alongside his statement, Seungkwan included a handwritten letter from Haewon of NMIXX, acknowledging the support and camaraderie shared among K-pop artists.
